The James Davis Story
CEO of Upad Ltd & residential landlord of 12 years' experience
Property Investor James' first property investment was at the age of just 22, when he wanted to get onto the property ladder, but couldn't afford a mortgage. He persuaded the bank to lend him enough to buy a house large enough to rent out rooms, and the rest is history. He now has a portfolio of 13 properties in London and Swansea.
James' experience as a landlord showed him that traditional ways of finding tenants - expensive lettings agents, or inefficient free websites - weren't serving landlords well. He founded Upad to help other landlords source tenants and manage their properties themselves. Upad offers a real alternative to high-street lettings agents, enabling private landlords to self-manage their property portfolios by selecting from an affordable range of fixed-price services.
He has a wide range of media experience from print, to radio and TV and an engaging, straight-forward approach. As a landlord who’s been dealing with housing benefit tenants for more than a decade, he’s uniquely positioned to talk about the impact of recent benefits' changes on the housing market, as well as more general issues related to buy-to-let and the private rental sector.
